2014 Conference: Northern Ireland

A one day conference took place in Belfast, on Saturday 28th June, for postgraduates, academics, local Christian leaders, those involved in student ministry - people who are concerned with the challenges of integrating Faith and Academic Life, the Kingdom of God and the realm of the Academy, Research and Discipleship.

Theme:

What is the role of Christian academics and postgraduates in the building of the Kingdom of God? How can the church support those in academia? Can Christian academics and students contribute to the life of the church and if so, how?

This Conference, a joint venture between Transforming the Mind, Contemporary Christianity and IFES Ireland, invites us to look at the place of Christian students/ postgraduates and academics in the body of Christ and in building God’s Kingdom.

Keynote Speaker:

Dr Vinoth Ramachandra

Vinoth RamachandraVinoth lives in Colombo, Sri Lanka, with his Danish wife, Karin. His formal academic training was in nuclear engineering (University of London). He has authored a few Theological books and essays, and blogs occasionally at http://vinothramachandra.wordpress.com. Employed by IFES - the International Fellowship of Evangelical Students, he has served in many capacities over the past thirty years. His primary passion is to help Christian students and scholars around the world engage with integrity in the conversations of their universities and the ethical issues in their societies. He also loves exploring old cities, birdwatching, murder mysteries and watching the All Blacks playing rugby.
